The bold yet aptly named Melbourne seven piece Cool Sounds have shared details of their upcoming new album, Cactus Country. Self described as “Ariel Pink with a sprinkle of Whitney and Rock & Roll Night Club era Mac Demarco”, the group have also offered up a chance to get acquainted with their sound, with the release of the album’s title track.
A taste of the band’s experimental side, Cactus Country is a stunning offering of twangy guitar and shimmering synths. Playful yet laidback, the track’s many elements (including the sample of seagull sounds) work seamlessly together to create a delightfully refreshing example of what Cool Sounds are capable of. Building intrigue into their new album and what more they have to offer.
