Mother - Pretty Face

Updated: Dec 11, 2019

Up and coming alt rockers Mother are ready to make their big break on the music scene with their strongest single to date, Pretty Face.

Dynamically rich with palm-muted verses and crashing punk rock choruses, Mother have created a track which is both lyrically compelling and which exudes an air of exciting unpredictability.

The Oxford rockers draw parallels with Oscar Wilde’s story of Dorian Gray, lyrically depicting a character unsettled in the modern world. Vocalist Josh Alden comments on the desperate need to remain youthful and every man’s daily battle within oneself and against the outside world.

Pretty Face is heavy and dark yet in parts softly ethereal symbolising the turbulent emotions of Wilde’s classic character. It’s a track to make you think and sends a powerful message reminding us to remain true to ourselves, “A pretty face can’t hide the pain.”
