Canada’s charming indie pop four-piece Dizzy are back with a sublime new single to precede their ‘Separate Places’ EP (due June 2021). With a win from the Juno Awards of 2019 under their belt, Dizzy are soon set to release the collaborative EP of reworked songs with strong acclaim from the get-go. Each of the tracks will revisit predecessors from their second album (‘The Sun and Her Scorch’) with the added embrace of various artists from around the globe. In a period defined by lockdowns and a painful lack of touring, this international influence is a thoughtful gesture.

Taking the poignant ‘The Magician’ from the album, and adding the delicate touch of multitalented Luna Li; ‘The Bird Behind The Drapes (Feat. Luna Li)’ is a glorious revisitation that is tender and exquisite. The lyrical theme maintains its elegant anguish with contemplative lines like “You be the bird behind the drapes / I’ll be the magician” flaunting a new-found level of gentleness. This rendition is airy — cloaked in delicate synths and boasting an exquisite vocal. Warming synths elevate the track’s naivety while chirpy guitar plucks fill the space left by the orchestral strings. If this is anything to go by, hearing familiar favourites from Dizzy with a twist is going to be truly special.
