Having hopped between New York, Oklahoma and Miami before being driven to LA by his musical ambition, SEB is the rising star creating exemplary bedroom pop through a love of hip hop, alternative R&B and emotionally charged songwriting.
Skilfully weaving acoustic guitars through electronic beats, his new single ‘They Don’t Like Me’ could just be one of the strongest releases of 2021 so far. The lo-fi cut is a vulnerable, yet confident display of SEB’s honest lyricism, and a seriously impressive piece of songwriting.
Speaking of ‘They Don’t Like Me’, he explains: “growing up everybody had this certain expectation of me and then when I started making music people thought I was probably going to do rap with trap beats, especially growing up in Chicago. This song is me saying ‘you all want me to do this, but if I went over here and tried something different would you still like me?’”
Rubbing shoulders with the likes of Omar Apollo, Dominic Fike and Peach Tree Rascals, SEB’s defiance is the sign of an artist destined for incredible things.
